While our breakfast in Lutherstadt Wittenberg with Sandra was princely, this morning we were treated like royalty to Kirstin and Frank’s! Now, well-fortified, we’re heading back to our vehicle, which was allowed to sleep safely in the garage. Our music is playing here now and we hope to see the two of them again soon. Such encounters open the heart and make an adventure like this really worthwhile! There are so many great, helpful people, don’t let them tell you otherwise, go, experience adventures and find out for yourself: people are basically good and most people can show and live this goodness. And the more we trust each other and meet each other, the more people will discover this goodness in themselves.
Shortly before we said goodbye to the two of them, our dear friend and helper Sascha joined us. Since he had already accompanied and supported us on the test drive in March, we are delighted that he will now be accompanying us again for a whole day. Especially since Andreas and I can now take turns getting on Sascha’s bike and Sascha can spend a day doing some hard work on the back seat of the tandem. When I was allowed to take his bike for the first time, I thought at first that he had an electric motor on his bike. It’s amazing, bikes actually drive themselves. I hope Andreas doesn’t come up with the idea of swapping with me until very late today.
Short stop at the technical museum of Dessau
We had only driven a few hundred meters when we saw a large airplane standing in an open space and immediately took a short break because the scenery looked so interesting. The former wind tunnel for aerodynamic testing of airplane parts was also very impressive!
3:15 pm: Small repair in Aken and off on the ferry
Now we are back on the right side of the Elbe and have once again managed to get the crossing for free and leave a few people behind with the feeling that we had experienced something special today. In Aken we took a long break, pulled the fork of the trailer and called our families. After a few tasty treats that were still completely untouched from our big shopping trip yesterday, we crossed the ferry again, which we were able to successfully pay for with music and also got a few things in our hat.
We continued through small towns with a few breaks and beautiful, relaxed forest paths that only required a little concentration as they consisted of narrow strips of gravel.
After a nice break at a bridge over a small, clean river, in which at least I cooled off, we continued on to the ferry to Barby and once again had to hurry, because the last ferry was due to leave in half an hour and we still had a few kilometers ahead of us.
19:00: Across the Elbe to Barby
